How to open Read-Only Word files?

Question: I have a serious problem, I am unable to edit any of the document. All documents/sheets are locked. Why do they say ‘read-only’?’

You may have opened the Word file directly from a zip file.

In this case, the file will say ‘read-only’.

So, you have two options:

1. Unzip the files to a folder on your PC and then open them. They will open as regular files or

2. In Word, click File, Save As and then save the file with another name, eg Process2.

If you re-open it back in Word, it will no longer be read-only.
